On being Stubborn
The king of Egypt was stubborn, God. He refused to listen to you. His heart was hard. He was too proud to pay attention to your messengers. I’m afraid that I’m like the king sometimes, God.
I sometimes laugh at people rather than with them.
I don’t treat people fairly.
I ignore people who talk about you.
I refuse to change my ways.
Soften my heart, God, so that it is a more welcoming place for you. When I feel like being stubborn, fill my mind with thoughts of your love. When I act proudly, help me remember that you are a God of justice. When I refuse to listen to those who share your words, speak to me of the comfort your Word brings. Amen Exodus 8:5-19
